Default Elemental Attributes

so far ive put my attributes on fire and energy storage, but i was wondering what other spells are worth it(i was thinking earth since it offers good protection)

im an ele/mesmer so putting the points on mesmer attributes are also a possibility

I think I'll take the same approach as Nihilist and just link you to the basic guide to playing Elementalist. If you would read it, it tells you great spells from every elementalist line to consider, including some from secondaries.

Also, just for the record, a lot of PvE elementalists only use Fire and Energy Storage, so while it might not be the optimal approach, don't think that you're required to use another line to get through games.

I started out as a fire ele and it works like a charm until the end game and once you're doing hard mode. Fire magic's powerful AoE are fun to play with but I usually combine it with mesmer skill Auspicious Incantation and put 2 points to water magic to equip Deep Freeze. Deep Freeze costs 25 energy but with Ausp Inc you get 140-150% back and DF also freezes the uglies, preventing scattering.

The skill chaining is Fire attunement, Ausp incantation, Deep Freeze, Savannah Heat, Tenai's Heat and Searing Heat for massive amounts of DPS. The other 2 skills on your bar are your's to choose, but I normally pick at least one PvE-only skill like Pain Inverter or Lightbringer's gaze and a rez or Mindbender for speed and faster casting. I also use a 40/40 set.

Also, earth is very good for PvP, and air/water are good for hm missions and vanquishing. Many Air skills are armor penetrating and causes cracked armor and most water skills have slowing down effect on the enemy - all good things in hm. The thing being and ele in hm is that you're reduced to support. In nm you're the numero uno damage dealer, but once you've got used to that it's all good
